Becoming a better artist means knowing how to challenge yourself, and maintaining a positive attitude even when nothing seems to be working out the way you want it to.
This article explores how to push yourself to do things you never thought you could do.

*Bonk*
...Let's begin.
Well, regarding the background first, as that appears to be the main worry of the artist, I'd say it's decent, but needing more life, or less open space, it's like when you're making sugar cookies with a cookie cutter, you don't want to waste as much dough as possible, and so must the artist bravely add more to what is already present!!
As for the remainder of the piece, the checkered cloth is actually amazing to me, mostly because it looks very symmetrical compared to anything I can do (I dare you to get a piece of paper and try to make a chess board! Do it from bird's eye view if you're that much of a sissy! IT WON'T CHANGE ANYTHING!!!
And as for the character, good structure, and if you're gay (or bie curious like me), very arousing, but he needs more signature accessories to make him memerable! A art piece tells a story, and if the main character's a bore, expect the rest of the fable to sink with him (Like a ton 'o bricks!)
Final note: A good piece in it's usage of detail and props, but needs more power! Give imagination only Wonderland's manic evil could give us!! (Though the prop usage of the Mad Hatter's hat WAS clever...I hate him so.)
P.S: Why is a raven like a writing desk?
