The planet itself is a living being and the Lifestream exists within it. Everything is born of it and everything returns to it. Everything with life is connected. This is what I believe, and this is what inspired me to do this work (that, and the fact summer is faaast approaching!). It's too bad I heard of Earth Day a little too late finish this for it. Also, let me assure you the real work looks better. I think I killed my scanner with so much green and some hues turned really weird. :'D
Of course it's an utterly personal work for me. Religion is always personal business, but I think I can deal with critique even though it has personal value. ...the category system for Painting & Airbrushing is seriously confusing. Where to put your religious art when it's not exactly surreal nor fantasy? I'm confused, gentlemen. Media: watercolors, gouache, Copic White, fineliner Size: 210mm x 297mm. Paper: A-paper Water Colour Book A4, 250g/m2. It's my usual choice. Reference for face and hair: [link] Probably my personal favorite piece up to date. I hope you like it!  EDIT: I knew I forgot something important! This was made for a contest, `karemelancholia's Your Secret Garden contest to be exact. I understand the secret garden concept as a state of mind more than an actual place, and where else would I be myself more than in harmony with the earth itself? You can't pretend to the planet - it knows what you really are and embraces you exactly as you are. Another edit: Holy cow, I got the Honourable Mention for Traditional/Artisan Crafts category!  I love the fine outline of the central figure, there. She looks so otherwise ethereal compared to the rest of the image, and so the fact that she is the most solid is intriguing.
I love the treatment you gave the background, both in the sky and in the 'water'. It looks almost flame-like, almost vaporous, and almost liquid. In short I'm not really sure what you were aiming for with it, but it seems so fitting to me. The only note of anything less than outright praise I would have would be to say the 'ripple marks' around the base could have been elongated more, but as it took me this long to even notice that, I would say it's such a minor note as to be disregarded. All in all, very well done! Watercolour may just be my favorite medium to work with. Aww, thank you so much for taking your time to write such a thoughful comment, I really appreciate it! Yes, the 'water' is supposed to be exactly the way you saw it, something not quite liquid, vapour nor flames.

LOVE the design, love the green, love the flow of her hair, love the earth in her hands : ) Very pretty, very well done. The little pine trees look to uniform (and kinda like trees you see in stick figure drawings)... it doesn't kill the piece or anything, they just bother me.  Your observation about the trees is correct, they might be a little too uniform. I tend to do a lot of unnecessary details in my works most of the time, so it was sort of like an experiment or a challenge to focus on something else for a change.
